Age: 3 years |
Rusty is a strong and high energy Husky/Malamute mix who spent the early years of his life as a sled dog. He enjoys having high energy activities to occupy his time and requires a home that has strong leadership and breed experience.
Though he gets along quite well with female dogs, Rusty tends to show dominance over other male dogs and would do best in a home where he would be the only male. Name: Snowy - SPECIAL NEEDS
Gender: Female
Breed: Husky
Age: 4 years |
Snowy is currently in a foster home in Toronto. She's a spayed female Husky, born in 2003 and is a playful and an extremely affectionate dog. Snowy has typical Husky traits and would likely be best as the only pet in the home as she wants all the attention for herself, although she might be receptive to living with a submissive male dog.
Snowy is a special needs dog because she was bitten by a certain sand fly a few years ago and contracted an illness called Kala-azar (Leishmaniosis). She has responded well to the treatment and can live a normal life with a medication called Allopurinol (Zylapour) which is, thankfully, inexpensive. Per her recent vet checkup, she can now take the medication for 1 week per month and be monitored by a blood test every 6 months, to check that her titer reading is remaining at an acceptable level. So long as her titer value remains constant she can continue on this routine until the next blood checkup.
Snowy can live a normal life just like any other dog, with the medication as and when required, so we would like for her to get this opportunity. Snowy is a quick learner and will do well with someone who's looking for a lovable dog! Snowy is a real 'people' dog and loves anyone who shows her affection. Snowy has travelled here all the way from Greece after being in a pound since June 2006 and still arrived as a loving an affectionate girl!
CONTACT INFO: If you'd like to share your home with Snowy, please email diannealdan-at-sympatico.ca for an adoption application and if all is good, we can arrange for you to go meet Snowy before making your final decision.

Name: Frodo
Gender: Male
Breed: German Shepherd
Age: Adult |
Frodo is in a foster home recently with kids, cats and dogs and he is doing great. He listens well now and has become quite the gentleman! He only needs help with the pulling on his leash walking. A very handsome boy! Frodo will need an experienced owner as he is very strong willed, but he works well for someone who is a strong leader. He is like a four month old puppy in a 98-pound body. He will require obedience lessons, as he has no manners. Frodo is fine with kids and other dogs.

Breed: Husky X
Age: 8 years |
Max is a super sweet guy who is great with children and dogs as well. He has all of his basic training and house manners and would make an excellent companion to even a first time dog owner (though all dog owners should be responsible about educating themselves about good dog ownership) Being a Husky, Max would do well in a home with no cats.
