Who We Are
SiberRescueOntario is a dedicated group of volunteers whoare devoted to rescuing, providing sanctuary, refuge and ultimately re-homing abandoned, stray and neglected Siberian Huskies, Inuit Sled Dogs and mixes therein.
We are a non-profit organization that is based out of York Region, Ontario. We receive dogs in need from all over North America. We take in dogs of all physical conditions and ages from newborns to seniors.
All SRO dogs are housed in foster homes where they are provided with a great deal of love and any medical attention that may be required to ensure that they are in good health before adoption.
All of our rescues are spayed or neutered and brought up-to-date on shots before being placed in their new homes. When time permits, our dogs are also housetrained and taught basic obedience.
All SiberRescue dogs are evaluated for temperament and personality. This helps us to place them in homes that are well suited to their needs and to the needs of their future owners. If you are looking for a specific type of dog and do not see it on our website, please email us. We work closely with other rescue groups and animal shelters and may be able to assist you in finding your canine family member.
SiberRescue recognizes the special rescue needs of this breed as they are frequently left outside, chained, neglected or left to roam due to the mistaken belief that these are purely outdoor dogs. We invite you to visit our Husky Facts page to learn more about this breed and tplease also visit our Misconceptions page to learn the truth about some of the myths about this breed and rescue dogs in general.
Helping Children With Autism Spectrum Disorders
This lovely lady is Gracie, a 2 year old Husky/Shepherd cross who came to us along with her brother Granger. Their absolute devotion to children was evident from the moment of their arrival.
Both of these amazing dogs have found dog savvy homes with children with Aspergers, an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Not only do both families report amazing changes in their children as a result of forming strong bonds with their canine companions, the dogs are absolutely thriving in the devotion of the children that love them.
